Self-love and beach self-esteem: in the DNA or is it trained?

As much as body positivity and celebrating our summer bodies just as our mothers brought them into the world are in fashion now...   

Self-esteem and self-love is not like airplane mode on your cell phone that you can turn off and on quickly. No matter how well we have learned the speech, some days, ALL of us have doubts and little desire to look in the mirror .    

However…   

We are total scoundrels: we are NOT ashamed of our shame. Self-love is something we can work on and do for ourselves (with gusto and olé).    

As? With patience and saliva, without self-help advice and, most importantly, without beating ourselves up if one day we don't go around with the air of a motherf*cker exhuming from every pore.

To the mess:

1. Talk to yourself… like you would to your best colleague.

When you get an ia bad idea about you or your body think: if it were my best colleague telling me this, what would I say? 100% that you would be kinder and gentler than you are with yourself. 

Well, that's it, it starts to be you, with you, more like you are with your colleagues for whom you KILL.

2. Onanism and making love to oneself

To start being good in front of others, it is better to know how to be good with only one. We are not talking about isolating yourself in the mountains, but about  a date, a little while, some time alone and without distractions with you.   

After all, you are the person you are going to spend the most time with for the rest of your life, so you better get along very well with her.

3. If you are working on your next level, celebrate the day-to-day victories

It doesn't matter if it's because of that session you had between your chest and back at the gym or for having walked for 20 minutes along the promenade with an ice cream. If it is already a victory for you, CELEBRATE it (even if it is with a small victory dance ).    

And the human head (just like that of dogs) responds better to rewards than to punishments.

4. If you are going to compare... destroy

When you compare the shape of your belly button in close-up on the couch with the leaked photos of lives and bodies on social media... it's easy to lose out.   

That you are capable of not focusing on others and only 'competing' with yourself? forward. No? -Well, he destroys: 'I'm sure that guy only eats chicken all year round'; 'What a sad life you must have'; 'I only see insecurities in all the photos'... when comparing impossible realities, it is better to choose the version in which you come out on top.

5. Door to door that makes you feel unsafe

See you later, Maricarmen to environments and people that vibrate with energies that you can't quite connect with.   

Trolls, energy vampires, emotional sponges, the one with the job who is always criticizing, the one at the bar who always thinks negatively about everything... say yes only to people who contribute and leave you smiles after coffees and messages. That what you hear around you are the voices that penetrate you.

If you were looking for the perfect excuse to go toe-to-toe with the crowd that turns your colors on (and what colors aren't), here you have it.   

When you spend time seeing and acknowledging out loud the good things in others… it “trains” you to see them just as easily in yourself when you look in the mirror.

7. Networks - in your favor

We won't tell you to turn off Instagram or stop following awesome hunks and hunks because he who is free from sin... let him cast the first stone.   

But you can 'force' the algorithm a little: like a post with cool phrases, accounts of pure humor... so that your feed doesn't look like a collage of brothels and so that little by little, by reading, you'll catch some message.

8. Create a maximum strut ritual

Maluma's Vitaldent smile, C. TanganA's hip pants, the footballers' impossible hairstyles... are not random. They are the result of his daily recharge-confidence ritual.   

What's yours? - Put on those clothes that you already know look amazing on you, that little background music that gets into your bones, those Siwon creampies that make your eyes light up... your ritual to increase confidence adapted to your tastes.

9. Body positive y body neutrality

The body positive thing is great for breaking with the idea that there is only one standard for a 'beautiful' body. That all bodies are beautiful and must be loved equally.  

Even so, there is already some variant of this. Do I really have to love each and every part of my body at all times?    

Well no, there are other movements like body neutrality that go a little further: 

  • You are not just your body; You have more facets (family, work, life...).
  • Your body is at your service and not the other way around: it serves to take care of yourself, to enjoy,...
  • Your body…. That's it: the good, the bad, the average and with its ups and downs. And it's fine that way.

10. Tra-tra 💃 treat yourself better

This doesn't even need to be said, but just in case...   

The obligatory step to give a boost to your self-esteem is none other than starting at ground zero of acceptance, taking better care of yourself, treating yourself better and loving yourself with great pleasure.    

Because self-love has no shortcuts or gym routines. You have to love yourself to the hilt: the good and the bad, the ugly and the sexy, the ordinary and the extraordinary.
