THE DEADLY SINS OF MALE SKINCARE: MOST COMMON MISTAKES

And how to atone for them without guilt, without a little guilt, without ceasing to be yourself

No man was born knowing how to take care of his skin, how to solve quadratic equations, or what a spark plug is.

What we do we learned through imitation, intuition, or by copying other hominids. That's why men's facial care is full of mistakes that are repeated generation after generation, like cardinal sins we commit without malice… but with visible penances on our faces.

Because in skincare, as in life, it's easy to slip up. But in this case, making amends is a real pleasure.

1. PRIDE

Believing that your skin can withstand anything.

  • Using shower gel or hand soap on your face stems from thinking, "This won't affect me" or "What difference does it make?" The consequences arrive quickly in the form of tightness, redness, rosacea flare-ups, pimples, and a lizard-like face that grimaces at the mirror.

THE ATONEMENT It is simple and humble: accept that the face is more sensitive than the body and clean it with a product designed for it, once a day, without punishment or violence.

2. GREED

Wanting results without consistency.

  • Expecting flawless skin by using a cream for three days straight and then forgetting about it for the rest of the month is a very common form of modern greed: wanting a lot with very little commitment. The frustration and the "this doesn't work" feeling will come later.

YOU WILL NOT BUY Instead of using more or different products, you'll use fewer, but properly and for the recommended time to see results. A short, daily, and consistent men's skincare routine.

3. LAZINESS

To start without finishing.

  • Shave now, deodorant now… a little water now. It's not conscious minimalism… it's just that you're a bit lazy, Jose Maria, and you never quite finish things.

Just like in the chiqui-chiqui you wouldn't stay in the preliminaries, here the idea is FINISH IT ALL OFFA moisturizer, a good serum, sunscreen. It's not about adding steps to an endless routine, it's about finishing. GOOD what you started.

4. VANITY

To mistake appearances for substance.

  • You won't buy the first thing that says "for men," has black packaging, or uses bold typography with epic promises. Matte black is not an ingredient.

YOU WILL SEARCH FURTHER From the face of the current footballer and the packaging to find enriched, scientifically based formulas, textures that provide enjoyment and intention in the choice. Like Siwon.

5. GLUTTONY

Putting on more than your skin can absorb.

  • Just like with spicy food, retinol and other cosmetic ingredients can take their toll if overused: a little is good, too much is bad. Cosmetic overindulgence, excess, more than the recommended dose, leads to retinol-infused, flaky skin and that uncomfortable feeling of having gone too far due to cravings.

YOU WILL AVOID BINGE EATING You will preach about gluttony and cosmetics, just as Lola Flores did: “with method.” With the right amount, restraint, and frequency. No more, no less.

6. ENVY

You will not desire other people's masculinities.

  • We don't usually envy someone else's skin, but rather their story; the story of the "lifelong" celebrity who claims to use nothing, take no care of himself, and always look great. Spoiler alert: it's all a lie. Everyone does something; some just don't talk about it.

YOU WILL LOOK OUT FOR YOURSELF And because of your own mechanism. Taking care of yourself doesn't make you any less of a man; it gives you back control and self-respect.

7. ANGER

You won't punish yourself when things don't go your way.

  • You won't pop your pimples, you won't over-exfoliate until you see bone, you won't let oily skin dry out with alcohol or without creams. Anger truly responds with inflammation, rosacea, more oil, and more pimples.

Here's the touch TURN THE OTHER CHEEKThe one of kindness, care, and calm: hydrating is not about making skin oily, and caring is not about dominating it. The skin is not to be subdued, it is to be accompanied.

SINNERS, ALL OF YOU

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. We are not perfect, nor will we ever be. We don't 'sin' out of laziness or malice, but because we do the best we can… until we learn to do better.
