We often talk about Design (with a capital D), about laughs, about how good our concoctions smell… but beneath all that lies something more fundamental: our formulation philosophy. It's the compass with which we conceive each product and the filter through which all ideas pass before seeing the light of day.

PRINCIPLES OF OUR FORMULATION: ASIAN-CAÑÍ DERMOCOSMETICS

1) MEN'S DERMOCOSMETICS.

 

Dermocosmetics is the branch of cosmetics and dermatology that uses clinically proven ingredients, in concentrations that truly deliver results and make a difference, to produce lasting changes in your skin. That's why:

  • You will see retinol, vitamin C or peptides in our bottles: Whose effectiveness is supported by numerous independent, replicable, statistically representative and relevant studies.
     
  • We'll tell you the concentrations of those ingredients, That is, percentages, but we're not playing a game of 'who has the biggest one'. Because, like with food, the vitamins in freshly squeezed orange juice, nights out partying, or sex… the key is finding the right balance (without overdoing it) where you notice results and enjoyment in equal measure, without turning your face into a hot pepper.
     
  • Designed for men's skin. This isn't about excluding anyone (if it fits you, go for it, whoever you are), it's about solving specific and statistically representative problems men face: mid-morning shine, enlarged pores, post-shave pimples, sensitivity after shaving...

2) KOREAN INSPIRATION.

 

Korean cosmetics set the international standard for innovation in our field, and we 'draw inspiration' from it in three ways:

  • ULTRALIGHT TEXTURES: Essences, mists, serums… formats designed for a society that has normalized a '10-step routine' of 'cream upon cream' but which, adapted to your lifestyle and patience; means creams that are not greasy, perfect for beards, mustaches and skin that sweats on the subway.
     
  • BOTANICAL ACTIVES: plant extracts that biomimic essential elements of the skin (dragon's blood, centella asiatica, green tea, …) and which, if they have been used for centuries in Asian medicine… well, there must be a reason.

3) 'ALMA' CAÑÍ.

 

We were born in Spain and we have to admit that there is something about the character and idiosyncrasies that influences how we formulate our creams:

  • We do less 'self-promotion' than we should regarding our starting values: Being “cruelty-free” or “toxic-free” (which is what the law requires), vegan, practicing “green chemistry” (or sustainability based on optimizing inputs at all points in the production chain)...
     
  • We are more of a team than individual stars. In a formula, this translates to giving equal importance to the dosage, the vehicle, the base, the preservatives, the sensory elements, and so on. Every ingredient justifies its place. If it doesn't contribute efficacy, sensory appeal, or stability, it's not invited to the party.
     
  • We're more streetwise than lab-based: That's why we're asking you, and if you're not going to use us in your daily life, if you're not able to explain to a colleague in a simple (but not simplistic) way what you're using, if you're not going to want to repeat, recommend and take it on trips... then the formula isn't quite right yet.
